About Marlena

Welcome, and thank you for your interest in my services. A little about me…

I was born and raised in Lincroft, NJ. I attended St. Leo the Great and Red Bank Catholic, played softball and tried my hands at basketball and field hockey. I dabbled in poetry and some drawings for fun. No professional, here! Then I ventured to Quinnipiac for a Business degree. This found me seeking a passion for health, which came a few months after graduation, when I tried Acupuncture myself. “Sign me up,” I said, and the rest is my journey.

My formal education began at the New England School of Acupuncture where I learned the essentials of Acupuncture and Tuina Massage. I am a Diplomat of Acupuncture under the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and am currently licensed in New Jersey. I have worked and studied under great practitioners in the Boston area, which was profoundly experiential and enlightening.

In 2005 I traveled to Uganda, Africa with Richard Mandell, and his Non-Profit Organization- The Pan-African Acupuncture Project (currently the “Global Acupuncture Project”), to help train Midwives, Nurses and other Healthcare workers how to use Acupuncture in their hospitals and clinics. This was a wonderful experience, as I got to see first hand, how powerful Acupuncture can be, and how quickly responsive they were to treatments. This made me even more excited to see how well Acupuncture can really work.
Over the years I have done extensive classes to continue my education in the field (You can see some of the health concern I treat within the website.) This will continue as long as I hold my license.

In recent years I married a loving man and gave birth to a beautiful daughter. We are a happy family who can walk into the wonderful town of Red Bank with, or without, our friendly pittbull mix!

Sincerely,

Marlena Szitanko Dipl.Ac., LAc.
